Calcination is the process of heating a substance over an open flame and reducing it to ashes. Calcination is represented by sulfuric acid because it is a powerful corrosive that reacts with all metals except for gold.
The mental metaphor is destruction of the mask and lives controlled by outer forces. The open flame is a personal surrender to due humbling experiences brought under harsh assaults and trials and marks the shedding of spiritual hubris.
Calcination is a revolutionary phase where we become warriors of our mission to conquer our kingdoms in dream worlds. To rebel against our own habits and impulses due to survival mechanisms and domestications that prison and plague us with a rat race labyrinth of people pleasing and solitary silent distress. This is the Fire of Creation and from the eruption magma forms slate islands of molten matter to build paradise upon. Though brutal in his goals, the conqueror Cortes said “burn the ships” marking a point of no return, there’s no going back to sleep now.
As we start this journey of exploration we will use an anthem Bad Manners. experimental lighter metalloid mix of nu-metal and reggae. Often times when we start journey’s of transformation we feel an inconsistency within us, like we’re being torn in half. Caught between our higher calling and a really hard place. Usually has a feeling as if the heat is on, like we’re standing next to the sun.
Bad Manners is a metaphor for that helped me undo the unchallenged, unrefined, beliefs I had about how I should live in the world. It could be following the “safe” path of corporate salaries, majors in school I didn’t want to do, relationship dynamics that are toxic, this is the rebel anthem for us to choose to be ourselves.
Make yourself happy and you’ll be happy with whoever decides to stick around. Happiness is the sulfuric acid of our lives that only leaves gold. Use some Bad Manners. In Aristotelean philosophy all actions and goals point towards happiness. Happiness is the gold to the philosopher. We use inner wisdom to hear our higher calling and through developing new habits guided by long term happiness goals we attain the Philosopher’s Stone.
The stage of Calcination represents the stage in our lives where we begin breaking down our egos, self-doubt, stubbornness, self-sabotaging behavior, pride and arrogance, and put it aside so we can find out what is underneath.
